Terms of Use

1. Purpose

Silent Hero is a confidential reporting platform for students to anonymously report bullying, harassment, violence, or safety concerns to designated school authorities.

2. Anonymity & Privacy

Your identity is never disclosed during normal use. All personal information (name, student number, email) is encrypted and stored securely. It is only accessible to authorized school personnel and only under circumstances described in Section 4.

3. Acceptable Use

Silent Hero may only be used to report genuine safety concerns. All submissions are reviewed by school staff. Misuse of the platform is taken seriously.

4. Location Verification

At the time of report submission, the app may perform a one-time, coarse proximity check to determine whether your device is within the general vicinity of your school. This check records only a binary flag (on campus / off campus) — your exact GPS coordinates are never stored, logged, or shared. This information is used solely to assist administrators in assessing report context and integrity. Reports filed from off campus are not automatically dismissed; they are flagged for additional review.
⚠ False Reporting Policy Submitting a report you know to be false or misleading is a violation of these Terms. Consequences are as follows:

1st offence: A formal warning is issued. You may appeal this within 10 school days.

2nd confirmed offence: Your identity (name and student number) will be disclosed to designated school authorities for further review and disciplinary action as per school policy.

4. Two-Way Communication

School authorities may send secure, anonymous messages through the app in response to your report. You may reply at any time. These messages are confidential to both parties.

5. Data Retention

Reports are retained for a period of 3 years in compliance with school board data policies. Personal information is purged upon graduation unless an active investigation requires otherwise.
